| Abstract: |
Research involves intellectual investigation, discovery, and interpretation. This matrix of a single vertebra represents one interpretation of a larger research project which investigated Maya 3D software (through numerous experiments with curves and deformations). During the process of manipulation, preconceived notions of organization disappeared and new shapes and spatial relations were discovered. Through the operations employed in creating the vertebra and the matrix, I was able to understand how different combinations of a single manipulated geometry could be used in the creation of space and how different arrangements could yield interesting passages. Taken beyond this simple vertebra, one can begin to imagine the infinite possibilities for the creation of novel space with more complex manipulations of geometry. |
