Danziger as Interim Vice Chancellor for Research. The appointment, which is subject to Board of Trustees approval, would take effect after I begin serving as Interim Chancellor on Jan. 1. Since 1999, Dr. Danziger has served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and as Human Protections Administrator and Director of Research Compliance. He chaired and served on one of UIC's Institutional Review Boards for four years and was a member of the UIC Human Subjects Protection Steering Committee. He played a key role in developing UIC's exemplary system of human subjects protection. Dr. Danziger is Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the College of Pharmacy, where he is Co-director of the Section of Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy, and has a joint appointment as Associate Professor of Pharmacy in Medicine. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Bachelor of Pharmacy from UIC, and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati. He is the author or co-author of more than 100 research articles and many book chapters and monographs. The Vice Chancellor for Research is responsible for the enhancement of research excellence throughout the campus. The Vice Chancellor also is responsible for assuring academic integrity in research endeavors and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to research. Units reporting to the Vice Chancellor include the Office for Protection of Research Subjects, the Office of Research Services, and the research centers and institutes. The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research also works closely with other campus offices; in particular, the Office of Technology Management and the Office of Business and Financial Services.
